Be on High Alert for Scams and Phishing Attempts
Scammers are getting smarter, making it harder for people to tell when they’re being tricked. According to KnowBe4, a security training firm that provides training courses to millions of members of the workforce, the top five attack vector types include:
- Phishing hyperlinks in the body of an email
- Spoofing domains (appears to come from a real user domain)
- The inclusion of PDF attachments
- Branding with organization’s logo and name
- The inclusion of HTML attachments
Those who attempt to steal information use engaging subject lines and content, including those around business policy updates, performance reviews and other formal processes, and reports. Make sure to use your best judgment before opening any email from a sender you don’t recognize.
